Adult Groups Fall 2010

Our vision at the Fellowship is to “build one another up in love for the work of Christ in the world”. We encourage you to join with a group of believers that would like to build you up, and have you help build them up, so we may grow into the people God wishes us to become for his glory. We encourage you to prayerfully consider if God wants you to join one of these groups. Please feel free to call the group contact for more information.

Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs)

Adult Bible Fellowships meet on Sunday mornings, with a focus on building deeper relationships with other believers. We support and encourage each other as we study scriptural topics together and learn how to apply them to our lives. All ABFs will begin on September 12 at either 9:00 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. as noted below.

ABFs at 9:00 a.m.

Family Builders is a group for moms and dads of any age child seeking God’s wisdom in their parenting and a desire to honor and glorify Him with strong and healthy marriages. Our focus is to strengthen and deepen the foundation of our homes by building on the solid rock of God’s word. Join us in Family Builders this fall and be encouraged, challenged and supported as we seek to become mothers, fathers, husbands, and wives that glorify God. We will begin this fall with a 9-week series called Effective Parenting in a Defective World by Chip Ingram. Family Builders meets in Room 32/33 upstairs. For more information contact Mark or Julie Halvorsen at 508-238-2186, juliehalvy@aol.com.

CrossCurrents is primarily focused toward working age adults and addresses how we can live transformational lives (like Christ) in the midst of our everyday work and activity. Our study topic this fall will be an Old Testament Overview/Survey video series taught by R.C. Sproul. Our objective is to grow in “correctly handling the word of truth” (II Timothy 2:15). Later in the year we will continue with a New Testament survey. Join us in a community journey toward genuine spiritual transformation! This group meets in Room 4 downstairs. Salt and Light is ready to start its third year and is based on Matthew 5:13-16 where we are called to become “salt of the earth” and a “light of the world.” This is a great place to connect with others at the Fellowship, whether you just started attending or have been with us for some time. We believe you will find a unique group of people who truly care for one another and enjoy learning what God has in store for us in our everyday lives. As we begin 2010, we will pick up on the theme of Nehemiah and continue to learn through the experiences of this man with a huge heart for God – particularly in the area of prayer. We meet behind the sanctuary in the “Music Room”. We welcome you to stop in and experience a time of sharing in the Word. If you have any questions, please contact Mark A. Nevens at 508-238-2880 or m.nevens @ comcast.net or Bruce Taylor at 508-378-2989 or bruce.taylor5 @ comcast.net. We look forward to meeting you if you decide to join us for some fun, food, fellowship and Bible study!!

Sojourners is a mixed age adult Bible study group focusing on personal application of the scriptures and encouragement of one another. This fall Sojourners will be examining the epistles of 1, 2,and 3 John, sometimes called “little John”, compared to the gospel of John. Some people jump right over them and plunge into the Revelation. These very short books contain encouragement, instruction, correction, and timely doctrine needed for today. Is it important for us to be able to clearly distinguish between light and dark? Do we need to know what the Bible says about leading a Christian life? Is ethical behavior connected with sound doctrine? How can we recognize false teaching? How do these books apply to the life of The Fellowship? These questions and much more will be the focus of our Bible study. Isn’t it time for you to explore this fascinating book? Isn’t it time for you to try out an ABF? There is room for you. We meet in Room 21, down the hall from the kitchen, on the right. For more information contact Dave Dore at 508-238-0080, 1ddore @ comcast.net.

4:12 (Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. I Timothy 4:12) This group is specifically oriented to the needs and issues of young adults in their twenties and thirties—single or married. This group will spend the first six Sundays of the new church year in Timothy Keller's study The Prodigal God: Finding Your Place at the Table—an insightful new look at the familiar parable of the prodigal son. In examining the son who kept the rules religiously and the one who broke them all. as well as the father who loved them both beyond imagination, participants will discover anew—and personally—the amazing depths of God's extravagant love. Join with us each Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m. in Room 4 (downstairs) and explore how to line up faith and life. There are also regular opportunities outside of Sunday morning for fellowship and service. For more information, contact Robb and Betty Saunders at 508-339-4339 or saundersbetty @ comcast.net; or call Jack and Alicia Bailey at 508-337-3134. You can also find us on Facebook, at www.fellowship412.com.
